Dr. M.S.Giri Varma a medical doctor with strong zeal and commitment is known for his simplicity, unassuming nature and dedication to community service. As a doctor he has catered to the health needs of all sections of the society in the city of Visakhapatnam as well as the rural areas of Visakhapatnam District. Dr. Giri Varma has rendered selfless service to the poor patients and is endearingly referred to as the ‘people’s doctor’. Dr. Giri Varma has also worked extensively in the field of communicable diseases including HIV / AIDS, women empowerment, environment & family wellfare and has actively conducted several medical camps and awareness programes in the districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. Dr. Giri Varma has visited Disabled Rehabilitation Centres, Community Based Health Programs, Universities and Poverty Alleviation programs in 18 countries.

Dr. Giri Varma is currently working as District Medical Officer - 2, in Trinidad and Tobago, British West Indies.

Inspiration and Commitment

Pavani Special School was started on 14th November, 1987 by Dr.Giri Varma to cater to the educational and training needs of the differently abled children in the city of Visakhapatnam. Dr.Giri Varma was deeply touched and inspired from an early age seeing his cousin who was suffering with mental disability and longed to do something for the individuals with disabilities. This strong urge was fulfilled by starting the Pavani Special School for children with disabilities. The committed doctor was well supported by his wife Dr. Jaya Varma and their two daughters and many sacrifices were made by the endearing family to support the school for 13 years with their own funds. The school started receiving grant in aid from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India from the year 2000. Dr. M.S.Giri Varma is presently working in West Indies.
